Denise Powell’s New Ad Hits ICE

Omaha, NE – Denise Powell used to keep her passport locked in a safe at home. Now, she carries it everywhere because in Trump’s America, being a U.S. citizen isn’t always enough.
Today, Denise Powell for Congress released a powerful new ad titled “Passport” in Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District. Since 2025, the Administration’s immigration enforcement tactics have left American citizens dead, families unable to locate loved ones ICE has taken and Latinos concerned about racial profiling–including Denise Powell.
“I used to keep my passport at home in our safe. Now, I carry it with me to prove I’m here legally,” Powell says in the ad. “My parents fled authoritarian regimes, I know how fragile democracy is.”
As the only Latina in the Democratic primary–and poised to become the first Latina ever to represent Nebraska in Congress–Denise Powell is running at a moment that demands exactly her story.
After announcing an investment of more than $1 million in Denise Powell with EMILYs List and Elect Democratic Women, CHC BOLD PAC also released its ad today, doubling down on Powell’s background.
“Nebraska needs a voice brave enough to take on Trump and his ICE Thugs,” the BOLD PAC ad states. “Denise led an organization to fight back against MAGA, provided legal aid to immigrants, and in Washington, she’ll ban ICE raids in schools and churches, hold ICE accountable, and Trump’s attacks on our democracy.”
