Omaha, NE – Today, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee added Denise Powell to the first round of the ‘Red to Blue’ program – indicating that, with the retirement of Rep. Don Bacon, this race will be one of the most competitive in the country. Red to Blue signifies top-tier campaigns that are building the infrastructure to win and help take back the House majority.
DCCC Chair Rep. Suzan DelBene said in a statement, “Powell knows what it means to fight for Nebraskans and is ready to take on MAGA sycophants like Brinker Harding. Denise is ready to continue her fight in Congress and finally deliver the real leadership Nebraskans deserve.”
“I’m thrilled to be added to the DCCC’s Red to Blue program today and to flip this seat in November,” Powell said. “Nebraskans have made it clear that they are ready for a leader who will fight back against the corruption in Washington that has sent the costs of everyday essentials through the roof.”
Powell has been endorsed by more than 60 local and national elected officials, community leaders, and organizations, including former NE-02 Democratic nominee Tony Vargas, Elect Democratic Women, BOLD PAC, EMILY’s List, NewDem Action Fund, the Congressional Black Caucus, and dozens of local elected officials across Nebraska. Powell raised more than $1.7 million in the primary and has built a team of volunteers that have knocked on thousands of doors across the district.
