Omaha, NE – Following the House vote today to extend enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies for three years, Denise Powell has issued the following statement:
“Nebraskans’ healthcare premiums have already more than doubled because this Republican Congress decided they would rather play games with their lives than support policies that keep healthcare affordable and accessible for more people. Now, it’s time for the Senate to pass this measure to bring costs back down and for Congress to take the next step in restoring access to healthcare by reversing their cuts to Medicaid. On the campaign trail, I hear stories every single day from people in our community who have had their insurance premiums skyrocket or who have decided for the first time not to get insurance at all because of the cost. You’ll always be able to count on me to listen to you and bring your stories with me when I’m fighting for you in Washington.”
