“Denise Powell is the leader Nebraska families need.”
OMAHA, NEBRASKA – Congresswoman Emily Randall (WA-06) endorsed Denise Powell in her campaign for Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District. Congresswoman Randall—a former nonprofit leader and public health advocate—flipped a competitive Republican district in 2018, made history as Washington’s first queer Latina state senator, and quickly rose to leadership in the state legislature before being elected to Congress in 2024.
“Denise Powell is the leader Nebraska families need in Congress,” said Rep. Emily Randall. “She’s spent years organizing, supporting women running for office, and protecting the public schools and communities that Republican extremists are trying to tear down. Denise is a fighter. She’ll never stop advocating for the people she serves – from lowering costs for working families to ensuring parents can feed their kids. I’m proud to endorse her in this critical race.”
Rep. Randall’s endorsement is the latest sign of growing momentum behind Powell’s campaign.
“I am honored to have Congresswoman Randall’s support in this campaign. She is a proven leader in the fight for affordable healthcare and economic fairness, and she has been at the forefront of protecting abortion rights in Washington state. I look forward to working alongside her in Congress to deliver for Nebraska families.”
Powell has raised more than $750,000 and secured support from over 40 local and national leaders, including EMILYs List, BOLD PAC, and the Latino Victory Fund. As a working mom and former corporate executive turned-small business owner, Powell is running to fight back against the extremism and economic instability hurting Nebraskans.
While families in Nebraska face higher costs and fewer opportunities, Donald Trump and Washington Republicans are laser-focused on tax cuts for billionaires and trade wars that devastate local farmers. Powell is building a campaign rooted in action by fighting for strong families, strong businesses, and strong communities.
About Denise
Denise Powell is a former corporate executive turned small business owner and working mom who knows that a strong work ethic and a love of family and community are the Nebraska way of life. She also knows the Good Life is getting harder to come by. It’s why, after Trump’s election, she left a successful career in corporate America to focus on fighting for what makes Nebraska such a special place to live and raise a family. Over the past decade, she has supported hundreds of Nebraskans running for local office, protected our public schools and the families they serve, and helped stop extremists from passing abortion bans in the state.
Every day, we see more of our friends and neighbors struggling to make ends meet while Donald Trump and MAGA extremists are focused on trade wars that are increasing our cost of living and passing massive tax breaks for billionaires. Strong families, strong businesses, strong communities – they ALL require work and investment, but everything we’ve fought for here at home is under threat. From dismantling Medicaid and making it harder for seniors to get the benefits they’ve earned, to dismantling education, from the University of Nebraska to our public schools, to attacking our veterans and ripping away women’s rights — Denise is running to fight for the people of Nebraska. We don’t need lip service from politicians; we need action.
